Okay, beauties, in this blog I am about to release the secret of secrets.  The O in OH EMMM GEEE.  The one simple thing that I have practiced for years to reach higher levels of success.  This, that I am about to share with you, is a simple habit that will not only help you conquer but will keep you winning.  Since learning and mastering this habit, my life has never been the same.  It is so easy to understand and do.  Once you learn about this habit, you are going to be in shock at how it never fails. What is this one thing that will forever change your life? Positive thinking.

There is a one simple things that I have practiced for years to reach higher levels of success; Positive Thinking. A picture of Zoraida thinking positively as she walks in a beauitful dress.

That’s right, the secret to a prosperous and success-driven life is Positive Thinking.  So simple, right?

The intense power of training our minds to think positive is not something that is ever taught or told to us.  For the most part, we are worriers.  We worry about things that have not even happened.  We let our minds take control over us and create scenarios in our heads that we believe to be true.  For example, when we hear a noise at night while you are sleeping, we immediately allow our mind to make us believe that we left the door unlocked and an intruder has entered our home.  Before we know it, we are terrified to go out and check to see what the noise was.  We turn to our husbands who say they heard nothing and turn to go back into a deep sleep within seconds.  We, however, can’t go back to sleep because we swear that the intruder is about to enter our rooms at any moment.  You see how easily we can lose control of our minds.

Years back, I was introduced to the power of positive thinking from a small book that I read.  Since then, I have practiced and mastered the habit to work to my advantage.  It was not overnight.  Like everything else it took years. Some may say that is because I am stubborn.

Before I was introduced to this topic, I was my own worst enemy.  I always sabotage myself into thinking negatively and feeling enslaved by my limiting beliefs.  If there was an opportunity or something that looked interesting, I would talk myself out of it.  I believed that I was not lucky like other people.  I always dismissed things by believing that it was not meant for me.  I would make excuses as to why things did not go right for me.  For example, if there was a job that I applied for and did not get, I would be like, “Oh well. They already knew who they wanted.  I never really had a chance.”  I would begin to rationalize my failure and accept it.

This was all too normal for me.

This all changed when I began to put into practice some of the principles listed in the book.  I started off by being really conscious about wanting to stop accepting failure.  I began to notice little wins after putting into practice the basic principles of positive thinking.  It did not require anything other than effort and being consciously aware.  Once I started, there was no stopping me.

I began to notice little wins after putting into practice the basic principles of positive thinking. A picture of Zoraida thinking positively as she stands in the street.

One of the first wins was in college.  You see, doing an internship was crucial for me since that is how I helped with the household budget.  During this time, it was difficult to secure internships because there was just so much competition.  I attended every career fair, applied for everything, until securing an interview.  After doing everything in my power to get my resume out there, I did not receive any offers.  However, I was still holding on to the power of positive thinking that an opportunity was out there for me.  Not just an opportunity but an entire experience.

As the semester ended, I decided to reach out to the companies that I had interviewed with.  One of those cold calls led me to Total Petrochemicals in Houston.  They told me that they had already offered the job to a student with a 4.0 GPA.  It was a little heartbreaking to say the least but I still held on to my belief.  A couple of days later they called me that the candidate had backed out and offered me the position.

Yes, girl, you can’t tell me nothing, NADA!  That summer was full of lessons because I had to step outside of my comfort zone and move to Houston.  Being from Corpus Christi, it was a big difference.  I packed up, took my kids, and conquered.  More than positive thinking, I learned that controlling my mindset was going to be what was going to keep me on top.

Six Tips for Retraining Your Brain to Think Positively

Implement the six tips below and see how your life changes as you begin to use the power of positive thinking to conquer everything you do.  You will be shocked at how it works like Tide on dirty socks.  Remember to be consistent so you will see results.

Practice Positive Thinking.  Begin to start filling your head with nothing but positivity.  Make a conscious effort to stop those gremlins from talking you down.  Catch yourself when you are creating scenarios in your head that are just made up by you.  Get rid of the phrases like “I can’t”, “I will never”, “I’m scared”, “I don’t know”, and “I won’t.” When you use those words you begin to believe the thoughts associated with them.  Since you attract what you think, use phrases like, “I can”, “I will”, “I am”, “I am able”, “I will learn”.

Surround Yourself with Positivity.  Search for people in your circle to be of positive and good nature.  This will rub off on you.  Look for successful people that will lift you up, help you, and hold you accountable.  The type of people that are going to encourage you to reach higher.  There is a ripple effect that will instinctively make you want to reach higher without even questioning it.  When you surround yourself with doers you will stop seeing obstacles and focusing on the possibilities.  (Remember that “surrounding yourself” includes the music you listen to, books you read, the television you watch, and more. Don’t think small and think only about people physically around you, but expand your thinking to include friends at a distance, influencers, and more.)

Say Positive Affirmations Daily.  Reading or listening to positive words will help lift your spirits.  It will help you to start believing in yourself.  Make it a habit to tell yourself every morning that you are a warrior and that you will win over any battle placed in front of you.  Remind yourself that you are fully equipped to handle all that will come toward you in a day and that your current position is the right position for the moment. There are so many ways to use, see, get, and read positive affirmations.  Go to our Instagram or Facebook to scroll through positive messages.  Download our newly released 31 Days of Empowered Fem Affirmations for a month’s worth of daily encouragement, Empowered Fem style.

Be Fearless.  Stepping out of our comfort zone is difficult but not impossible.  Do not let the fear of anything stop you from taking a step.  This is a setback that interferes with our goals.  Remember that fear is just a state of mind.  Stop letting your immense light not shine.  Start to push yourself to do things that you have put off.  Announce it on social media and to friends in real life so you are forced to deliver.

Practice Gratitude.  Be thankful for all your blessings.  Stop dwelling on everything that you don’t have and be grateful for all that you do have.  Think of your problems as minor things compared to what others are going through.  Be helpful by blessing others with your talents.  If there is a person, organization, or a cause that can use your gifts and talents, then help however you can.  The blessings you give will come back tenfold.  Being of service to others will help you see your value and increase your confidence.

Visualize Yourself Winning.  Start to see yourself in a light of winning, conquering, slaying, achieving, accepting awards, selling out concerts, being the best, closing deals, making new deals, getting invited to a special taping of The Ellen Show.  Go as far as to start thinking what you are going to wear, how you will wear your hair, how the day is going to be, what questions you will be asked, the feelings that you will have, the reaction of your family, how they will ask you to return.  Create those positive scenarios in your head.  That way when it all comes true you have already thought it out and it will not be so nerve-wracking.

We all have problems, bills, troubles, losses, and bad hair days.  It is how you choose to deal with all those days that will set you apart.  Absolutely no one can control your thinking but you.  This is one thing that is completely dependent on how you choose to deal with life.  Your thoughts affect your actions, so be determined to reprogram your mind.  The world needs you and your light; stop getting stuck inside your head.  The world looks a whole lot brighter from this side.
